A plain explanation of how we are paid, what that means for the offers you see, and the loan terms you can expect from lenders in our network.

We are not a lender
Our service is a free loan request connector, not a lender. We do not make credit decisions, fund loans, set rates or terms, or act as an agent or broker for any lender.
When you submit a today cash request, we pass the information you provide to lenders and lending networks that participate in our network. Each lender reviews the request on its own terms and decides whether to make an offer. Any loan you accept is a contract between you and that lender only.
How we earn money
We receive compensation from lenders and lending networks, generally when a request we pass along is matched with a lender or when a loan is funded. You never pay us anything.
Compensation arrangements vary by partner. Some pay a set amount for each request they accept for review, others pay only when a loan is funded, and the amount can differ by state, loan size and lender. We do not receive any share of the interest or fees you pay over the life of a loan.
How compensation affects the offers you see
Compensation may influence which lenders receive your request, the order in which they review it, and which offer you see first. Paying us more never changes the APR, fees or terms a lender quotes you.
- Not every lender or loan product on the market takes part in our network, so other options may be available elsewhere.
- The first offer you see is not necessarily the lowest-cost offer available to you.
- Our educational guides are written independently of compensation; lenders do not review or approve them before publication.
- Comparing offers on APR and total repayment, using tools such as our personal loan calculator, is always worth the extra minutes.
No fee to use our service
Submitting a request through our form is free, and you are under no obligation to accept any offer. We never charge an application, processing or matching fee to consumers.
A legitimate lender will not ask you to pay a fee, buy a gift card or send money by wire before releasing a loan. If anyone claiming to represent us asks for payment, stop and contact us right away.
Lenders may charge their own fees, such as an origination fee or a late fee. Those fees are set by the lender and must appear in the loan agreement before you sign.
Representative example
As a representative example, a $1,000 personal loan repaid over 18 months at 27.99% APR would cost about $68.67 a month, for a total of $1,236.06, including $236.06 in interest.
This example is an estimate for illustration only. Your APR, payment and total cost depend on the lender, your state, the amount and term you choose, and your credit and income profile. See current APR ranges by credit tier for more context.
APR ranges and repayment terms
Loans offered through our network typically range from $500 to $5,000, with APRs of about 8% to 35.99% and terms of 6 to 36 months for most loans in this range.
| Credit tier | Estimated APR range |
|---|---|
| Excellent (720-850) | about 8% to 16% |
| Good (690-719) | about 14% to 22% |
| Fair (630-689) | about 18% to 30% |
| Below 630 | about 25% to 35.99% |
Some lenders offer up to 60 months on larger amounts. Lenders do not disclose their full pricing to us in advance, so the actual APR you are offered may fall outside these estimates. Missing a payment can lead to late fees, collection activity and a lower credit score.
State availability
Loan availability, amounts, APRs and terms vary by state, and some lenders do not lend in every state. Residents of certain states may not be matched with any lender at all.
State law sets limits on rates, fees and loan sizes, so the same request can lead to different results in different states. Minimum borrower age is 18 in most states and 19 in Alabama and Nebraska. Our page on basic eligibility requirements explains the other common conditions.
No promise of approval or timing
Submitting a request does not mean you will be approved or receive an offer. Approval, loan amount and timing are decided by each lender after reviewing your information.
Many lenders return a decision within minutes of a completed request; if approved and you sign, funds often arrive by direct deposit as soon as the next business day, sometimes the same day. Timing depends on the lender, your bank and when you finish. Lenders may check your credit with one or more consumer reporting agencies.
